tux0stat is one of my many pet projects. Citing horrible inefficiency in my heating/cooling system for my apartment (a stock residential programmable themrostat), specifically given my schedule of often being away for days at a time, I decided that something fully programmable would be a lot better. So, I set out to design a Linux-based thermostat.
The project isn't finished yet - the temperature control algorithm is still a bit simplistic, the control panel buttons aren't implemented yet, the console control program isn't finished, no SNMP yet, and only a very simplistic web GUI. And, unfortunately, the system is running on a stock Dell desktop, since I didn't have the money (after all the hardware) to buy a nifty little headless system.
